Just remember to move laterally to avoid the railgun and book it straight forwards when he charges his Core. Obviously you're more exposed while you're doing this, so hopefully there're enough batteries still lying around that you can buff yourself up a bit. (This also has the added benefit of preventing his shield from recharging). At this point (when Viper has no shields) you want to close him down, constantly target him with homing rockets, and use the chaingun to whittle his health away. Those missiles lock on - the ones in the Flight Core don't and are effectively useless. A fully-charged shot will completely deplete his shield, and then you can start to bully him.Īs soon as your Core charges, switch to Tone and use the Salvo Core. (This weird direction-switching is what makes the fight tough, I think).Īnyway, Northstar is still effective if you can hit him, but that's a much bigger ask at this stage. Waiting a couple of seconds after you hear his core charge and dashing forwards or backwards usually does the trick, but remember to resume your lateral movement as soon as the barrage ends because he'll immediately return to the railgun. Getting out of the way of the missiles is more important those landing on your head is not a fun day out. I found the easiest way to dodge the railgun was to move laterally. He just flies around sniping at you with his railgun and charging up his missile salvo. In the 1-on-1 phase, I don't think Viper ever lands. Focus on his buddies first, and when they go down you'll get a useful checkpoint. Crouch behind one of the low bits of cover on the left or right of the ship, close to where you start, fully charge the railgun, and pop out to take potshots. The Northstar Titan is very useful early in the fight, especially when Viper has his mates with him and isn't as mobile. I've got good tone.I beat him about ten minutes ago, so for the benefit of anyone else who might be struggling here are some things I picked up: "Argh! Taking fire! O nine zero for twenty, it's, uh, getting a little hot up here." "Bandit's got Core- Break hard shift two." Raz Four visual- point-zero-nine, two-three. "Viper one lost control! I'm losing control! Going down! Mayday! Mayday! Going down!" "You hear that ringing in your ear son?" "When you get to hell, tell em' Viper sent you." "You need to move faster than that son, speed is life." "Viper's got you in the pipe, five by five." In Top Gun the character Viper is played by Tom Skerrit, who also appeared in Alien. His mention of 'Voodoo one' is a reference to Top Gun, as is his callsign. His line "Viper's got you in the pipe, 5x5" is similar to what the dropship pilot from Aliens says, as they are entering the atmosphere of the planet. Viper has references and influences from Top Gun and Aliens.

It is possible this Ronin was simply a stand-in for Viper, as to not spoil the boss fight in a trailer. What became of this Ronin is currently unknown. Instead of BT tackling Viper after recovering from the fall, he would tackle a Ronin Titan, although the scene changes before anything else was revealed. There was originally a Ronin Titan involved as seen in the E3 2016 Titanfall 2 Campaign trailer. The exposed Viper is killed by Cooper with small arms fire. He rips off BT's arm, but BT in a last ditch effort destroys his hatch. They land aboard the hull of the IMS Draconis and engage in a frantic melee. The two plummet through the air with the Vanguard Titan in Vipers grasp. Just when BT-7274 and Cooper think he's dead, he returns and tackles BT. Viper returns to finish Cooper and BT aboard the IMS Malta after the 6-4 and Jack have taken control of it, but is shot down in the ensuing battle.

Slone comments that "She'll let Viper take it from here." Viper is then seen in the next mission, the Ark where he is shown destroying the Milita Fleet with his customized Northstar Titan. He then fires missiles at the carrier Jack Cooper and BT reside in nearly killing them, but they are saved from free fall by Barker.

Viper is first seen in the campaign mission Trial by fire, in the back as Slone among other is loading the Ark into the Draconis. Not much is mentioned about his past besides the fact he was classified by order of IMC test pilot program "Pegasus". He is first encountered in the mission "The Ark". He is the fifth boss fight in the campaign and the lieutenant of the Apex Predators. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide."Ī cold member of the Apex Predators piloting a heavily modified Northstar-class Titan, Viper protects the IMS Draconis when the 9th Militia Fleet are chasing after it and the Ark.
